About This Role:

As a Cloud Platform Architect within Biogen's Architecture Community, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological landscape of our Public Cloud environment. This position bridges technical solutions with business challenges, acting as the technology subject matter expert for Functional IT partners. You'll focus on designing innovative cloud solutions that are cost-effective and performant, preparing and presenting detailed architectures, and communicating critical decisions and trade-offs. Your strong technical and analytical skills, combined with interpersonal abilities and a passion for emerging technologies, will be key. You'll analyze industry trends, recommend optimal solutions, and lead "exploratory builds" as part of solution evaluations. Collaborating with various teams, you will guide application management and Managed Service Providers in constructing robust and secure cloud solutions.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead the architectural strategy for Public Cloud platforms AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and guidelines.
  • Create and communicate detailed platform and solution architecture documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of domain technology tools and platforms.
  • Leverage new technologies to contribute innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, driving effective IT solutions.
  • Provide architectural guidance to development teams to ensure quality and manage technical debt.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with IT stakeholders to maximize business value.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineers to develop cost-efficient and secure cloud solutions.
  • Ensure cloud solutions align with Biogen's standard architecture.
  • Guide application solutions to achieve the most cost-efficient architecture.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud computing.
  • Strong domain knowledge of AWS and Azure platforms.
  • Proficiency in architectural principles and cloud architecture development.
  • Ability to integrate multiple infrastructure stacks.
  • Fluency in core infrastructure technical domains (IaaS/PaaS, Serverless, Containers, OS, Compute, Storage, Network, Security).
  • Scripting and/or Programming Skills (Python, PERL, PHP, Bash, Powershell, Ansible).
  • Understanding of DevOps methodology and CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with modern tools (CrowdStrike, Atlassian, Github, Jira).


Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in leading strategic cloud initiatives.
  • Ability to mentor teams in reliability engineering and customer-oriented delivery cultures.
  • Strong understanding of security and compliance standards within cloud environments.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $115,000.00-$154,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
