The position is designated Statutory Exempt and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act

The Cloud Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the cloud network infrastructure including the deployment and configuration of cloud-based network solutions to ensure high performance, reliability, and security. Positions in the role consult with enterprise architects and automation teams to drive cloud configuration.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:
  • Design and implement networking and security controls while ensuring compliance
  • Assess cloud vulnerabilities, identify cloud security threats, identify risks, and perform audits
  • Oversee the testing of data contingencies and disaster recovery planning

About the Division

The Identity & Converged Platform - Cloud team's focus is to bring secure, cost-effective, cloud and/or on premise-based technical solutions into service for State agencies. As part of the Identity & Converged Platform within the Department of Information Technology, the Cloud team brings and supports new IT cloud services for its customers. The Identity & Converged Platform - Cloud offers a rich, complex, and continuously evolving environment where multiple teams work together to meet agency's needs and challenges with the everchanging IT landscape.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
  • Demonstrated cloud networking experience with at least one of the "big three" Public Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including hybrid cloud and/or cross-cloud/multi-cloud connectivity
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and/or optimizing functionality of next-generation firewall solutions (such as those offered by Palo Alto Networks) preferably in a cloud environment
  • Demonstrated experience with core network services such as (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM technologies)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution, and five years of IT experience including three years of progressive experience in cloud-related systems infrastructure design, implementation, and management;

Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of IT experience including four years of progressive experience in cloud-related systems infrastructure design, implementation, and management;
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES:

If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station, new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
