SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Cloud Engineer; you will be responsible for distributed and managed services, automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services. You will manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency and guide and manage software releases for new features and support users through consolidation. Occasionally performs the administrative operation of server hardware and software. Ensures system security and executes practices and procedures. Troubleshoots system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Skills:
  • 5 years of IT and/or software experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred)
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Participated in or led agile development teams
  • In depth understanding of Dev Ops methodologies
  • Worked with Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity or other Continuous Integration tools
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T
  • Experience with networking and related technologies (e.g. load balancing / DNS / SSL / firewalls / NAT / SDN)
  • Experienced in using Git
  • Experience in release management
  • Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow through
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, including file systems, directory structures, permissions, and core system configurations.
  • Familiarity with Ansible and Packer for automating the creation, configuration, hardening, and maintenance of standardized machine images.
  • Understanding of CI/CD principles and pipelines used to automate image building, testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides (DISA STIGs), including applying security requirements across Linux and Windows operating systems.


Desired Skills:
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and OpenStack
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Chef, Ansible, BOSH, or related automation / orchestration tools
  • Experience with a platform as a service product such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk, or similar
  • Experience working with DNS, NTP, SAML, OAuth 2, Active Directory
  • Understanding of systems monitoring, alerting and analytics (Prometheus, New Relic, AppDynamics, Cacti, Graphite, ELK, Nagios, Ganglia, Splunk, Log Insight, Realize Operations, Datadog, etc.)
  • Background in Windows deployment, automation, and related technologies
  • Experience with database (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ)
  • Solid worth ethic and the ability to work in a mission critical environment

The likely salary range for this position is $116,813 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
