Full Job Description
Cloud DevOps Engineer - IT - New York, NY or Denver, CO (Hybrid)

Position Overview

We are looking for a CloudOps Developer to design, implement, and manage our Azure cloud infrastructure that supports our financial applications and AI-driven services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Azure practitioner who can advise on right-sized infrastructure for varied enterprise workloads, build and operate cost-efficient IaaS and CI/CD solutions, and leverage modern AI tools to elevate the quality and speed of their own delivery. This role involves working in a hybrid team structure, collaborating with in-house developers, consultants, external vendors, and AI tool outputs while ensuring cloud infrastructure quality and providing technical guidance on Azure cloud architecture and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions on Azure, selecting and right-sizing services to meet diverse enterprise workload requirements - including App Services, Azure Functions, AKS, SQL/CosmosDB, networking, and storage - using Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform)
  • Advise stakeholders on appropriate Azure architecture patterns for different business and technical needs, balancing performance, security, scalability, and cost
  • Build and maintain robust, cost-efficient CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (and GitHub Actions where applicable), including release management, automated validation, and infrastructure compliance checks
  • Drive cloud cost optimization as a core practice - analyzing utilization, right-sizing resources, implementing auto-scaling, applying reservations and savings plans, and establishing FinOps discipline across environments
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics, with dashboards and proactive alerts for system health and cost anomalies
  • Ensure security and compliance across cloud resources by implementing Defender for Cloud recommendations, configuring identity and access management, network security, and meeting financial industry regulatory requirements
  • Support deployment and operation of AI infrastructure components (e.g., Azure OpenAI Service, AI Foundry, vector database hosting, GPU compute) in collaboration with the AI Engineering team
  • Leverage AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate IaC authoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and code review - bringing measurable efficiency and quality to your own output
  • Conduct thorough reviews of cloud infrastructure configurations produced by consultants, external vendors, and automated tools, and validate AI-generated infrastructure code for quality, security, and business alignment
  • Establish and enforce cloud architecture standards, documentation requirements, and technical best practices

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations or DevOps with a strong focus on Azure
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Azure Solutions Architect preferred)
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of Azure services and the judgment to recommend the right service for the right workload
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform)
  • Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated track record of cloud cost optimization - right-sizing, reservations, scaling strategies, and ongoing spend governance
  • Strong experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions in Azure
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS)
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
  • Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and a clear point of view on how to apply them effectively
  • Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience with financial services or Fund administration cloud infrastructures
  • Understanding of Private Equity Fund Administration or Fund Accounting
  • Experience with multi-environment cloud architectures (dev, test, prod)
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices or certification
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity practices
  • Experience with Azure Policy and Governance frameworks
  • Exposure to AI/ML workload infrastructure on Azure (Azure OpenAI Service, AI Foundry, GPU compute, vector databases)

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000, in addition to a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Please note that the actual salary offered within that range will depend on the candidate's experience level.
