Position Summary

The Cloud & Automation Systems Engineer will expand internal engineering capability across Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, and endpoint management. This role is designed to be a force multiplier for the IT Support Services team, building automation, strengthening security controls, improving governance, and reducing reliance on external engineering resources for high-impact initiatives and escalations.

Responsibilities

Azure Engineering, Automation & Scripting Design, deploy, and support automation and integration solutions using Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and security.  Build, maintain, and optimize automation solutions using PowerShell (and Python where helpful) to automate provisioning, configuration, compliance checks, and operational workflows.  Partner with Infrastructure and Security stakeholders to create reusable modules, standard patterns, and documentation to reduce single points of failure and enable team scale. Implement governance, monitoring, and operational best practices across Azure services and Microsoft cloud platforms.  Build and support integrations between SaaS platforms and Microsoft services using APIs, including secure authentication, logging, and failure-handling patterns. Microsoft 365 Administration  Administer and support Microsoft 365 services in production environments, including (as applicable) Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and core tenant governance.  Support escalations and root-cause analysis for complex Microsoft 365 issues; drive permanent fixes rather than recurring ticket cycles.SharePoint Online  Support and enhance SharePoint Online administration, including site provisioning workflows and automation (including logic app automation).  Build and maintain SharePoint structures (sites, libraries, permissions models) and automate lifecycle activities where appropriate. Develop solutions leveraging Microsoft Graph/Power Automate where appropriate to improve operational scale and end-user outcomes. Identity & Access (Entra ID + Okta)  Configure and support Entra ID (Azure AD) identity services, including identity governance patterns and secure access configuration. Support Okta administration and lifecycle management efforts, including MFA strategies and operational best practices. Documentation & Operational Excellence Produce clear technical documentation for automation, configurations, and standard operating procedures; ensure solutions are supportable by the broader team.  Participate in operational improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, and scalability.

Education and Experience

 Skilled in administering Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online environments. Ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable cloud solutions. Ability to automate manual processes and develop reusable operational workflows. Skilled in designing and implementing automation using Azure Logic Apps, Functions, and Power Automate. Skilled in scripting with PowerShell (and Python) for provisioning and operational processes.  Knowledge of APIs, authentication methods, and integration solutions. Knowledge of techniques for troubleshooting complex cloud and SaaS issues and performing root-cause analysis. Knowledge of identity and access management concepts, including Entra ID (Azure AD) and Okta. Ability to collaborate with infrastructure, security, and vendor teams. Ability to produce clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

 Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. Experience may substitute for education. Four years in cloud engineering, systems engineering, automation engineering, or similar roles.

Work Environment:

 This is either a hybrid or fully remote role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices three or four days per week, based on managers discretion. If remote, the associate is required to have a workspace free from distractions and a reliable internet connection. The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises, and distractions.
