Responsibilities

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In collaboration with principal investigators, the Manager and other members of the health care and research teams, is responsible for organizing, implementing and coordinating multiple clinical research protocols/activities in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Frequent: lifting and carrying usual weight of 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, repetitive arm and hand motions, lifting and carrying weights of up to 10 pounds, pushing and or pulling weights of up to 30 pounds with assistance, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods of time.
• Operates a telephone, computer, printer, fax, copy machine, hospital equipment and instructional equipment as necessary.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, communicable diseases, and body fluids. Working environment is sometimes stressful due to workload.
• Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at any one time.

Assignment to Clinical Trials:
• Works beyond normal work hours to ensure patient care and integrity of research protocols.
• Carries a pager to be available for outside calls regarding protocols, potential patient enrollment, adverse events etc.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Current certification in BLS/HCP.

B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care facility.
• Previous clinical research experience preferred.
• Experience to demonstrated strong communication skills.
