Full Job Description
Clinical Psychologist

Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL

Place of Performance: Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL 32214 and associated branch medical clinics within a 50-mile radius of their assigned MTF

Period of Performance: One (1) base year with four (4) option years to follow

Schedule: The MTF operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specific days, hours, and shift length will be scheduled by the designated government representative. The specific schedule for each two-week period will be provided 1 month in advance by the government supervisor or designee.

Position Requirements:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Phycology (PsyD)
  • Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Successfully completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • Currently, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or Virgin Islands
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience within the last three (3) years working with a patient population with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  • Provide three (3) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or peers attesting to his/her clinical skills. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two (2) years.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
  • Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
  • Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage.
  • Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed. Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting.
  • Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.
  • Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives, and prepare such records and reports as may be required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and. Collateral sources, as appropriate
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association
  • Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
