Summary

About the Position: This position is located in the Psychology Services at Southcom in Doral, Florida. The primary purpose is to provide a team-based approach to healthcare by integrating behavioral health providers and registered nurses into Primary Care Clinics to deliver evidence-based biopsychosocial assessment, treatment, prevention and management of behavioral health problems and conditions.

Working hours 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Help

  • Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to propose behavioral health interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.
  • Provide primary care providers and staff regular and concise feedback on the status of referred patients, to include recommendations for team-based care.
  • Implement psychoeducational classes to target high frequency diagnoses found in the primary care clinic.
  • Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters.
  • Utilize objective behavioral outcome measures to evaluate treatment progress and contribute to program effectiveness.
  • Educate clinical staff and patients on the principles of primary care behavioral health and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors.
  • Conduct rapid assessments and developing brief, problem-focused treatment plans for beneficiaries with acute and chronic mental health and behavioral medicine conditions in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Tier 1: This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of examination is required for the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires successful completion of mandatory DHA PCBH BHC training confirmed by a DHA PCBH Program Manager within 3 months of hire (unless DHA is unable to provide the training within 3 months).
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; working as part of a multidisciplinary team; and determining level of care required for suicide risk and prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Education
