Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Director and Department Manager, provides advanced pharmaceutical care according to standards established by the Department of Clinical Pharmacy to all patients. Assists in the development and coordination of clinical pharmacy services and educational programs for the Department. Responsible for providing tools and educational opportunities to enhance services provided by all staff members. Participates on intra- and interdepartmental committees as assigned. Serves as preceptor to pharmacy students and residents as assigned. Participates in the development of institution-wide drug use policy. Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient drug distribution and control system. Participates in supervision of technical staff. Participates in clinical research with medical, dental and other Health System staff.

Core Job Functions
Assess pharmacotherapy and individualize therapy to specific patient needs and communicate therapeutic recommendations to the Medical Staff. Establish and clarify goals and objectives of therapy in collaboration with the physician for each problem being treated. Provide patient education and counseling and participate in discharge planning for the purpose of ensuring continuity of drug therapy.
Compounds any of the following as needed-inpatient unit dose medications, lotions, ointments, creams, small and large volume parenteral. Supervise all aspects of the inpatient drug distribution and control system.
Participate in quality assurance and quality management program activities. Participate in and provide direction to the organization's DUE program. Assure department compliance with The Joint Commission.
Develop and implement clinical pharmacy training programs for staff pharmacists, Residents and Nursing as needed. Provides supervision and instruction of PharmD students and Residents on clinical rotations as assigned. Attend and participate in Pharmacy Leadership meetings.
