Behavioral Health Clinical Pharmacist to join our growing pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and shape a new behavioral health pharmacy service while working alongside an interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes for patients with mental health and substance use disorders.
As a key clinical resource, you will provide direct patient care, medication optimization, staff education, and quality improvement support across behavioral health services. The ideal candidate is passionate about psychiatric pharmacy, enjoys collaborating with physicians and care teams, and is eager to help develop innovative clinical services.
What You'll Do- Participating in interdisciplinary behavioral health rounds and providing medication-related recommendations.
- Reviewing medication regimens for appropriateness, effectiveness, interactions, duplication, and opportunities for optimization.
- Supporting the management and monitoring of antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, medications for substance use disorders, and other behavioral health therapies.
- Assisting with medication reconciliation and transitions of care, including identifying adherence barriers and helping ensure access to medications after discharge.
- Supporting applicable monitoring and regulatory requirements, including clozapine, long-acting injectable antipsychotics, metabolic monitoring, and high-risk medications.
- Providing medication education to patients, caregivers, pharmacists, nurses, providers, residents, and students.
- Serving as a behavioral health medication resource for pharmacy and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Contributing to order-set development, medication-use evaluations, formulary reviews, quality-improvement initiatives, policies, and medication-safety efforts.
- Helping establish workflows, metrics, and outcome reporting for the new service.
What We're Looking For- Education: 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification. PharmD, preferred.
- Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy. Oncology experience preferred for oncology roles, required. ASHP accredited PGY2 Infectious disease residency OR 2 years of equivalent clinical pharmacy experience in infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, required.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
- Additional skills required: Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
