Responsibilities

Weekend Requirements: As Needed | Work Hours: 9-5:30 | Status: Full Time - 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital | Department: Pharmacy Inpatient

Job Summary:

Assures the appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders in the Retail Pharmacy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug related  problems.

  • Recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate.

  • Compounds and dispenses medications for retail sales.

  • Ensures appropriate packaging and labeling according to state and federal regulations.

  • Provides drug information and education to consumers.

  • Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.

  • Counsels patients on their medications.

  • Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure proper dosage and labeling of medications and validates order entries.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
