JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Job Summary:
Reviews written medication orders and prescriptions to determine ingredients, strength and dosage required. This includes a professional judgment concerning the appropriateness of the medication selected relative to potential allergies, toxicity, and adverse drug reactions with other medications ordered. When necessary, contacts the physician to clarify orders and/or make recommendations concerning alternate therapy. Participates in all clinical activities including consultation, drug information, and rounding.
Education:
Position requires a Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor's Degree with related clinical pharmacy experience.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Maryland Board of Pharmacy Licensure
Unexpired, unsuspended driver's license if incumbent will be required to drive as part of their routine job duties.
Experience:
Position requires 2-3 years related experience in hospital pharmacy, pharmacy practice residency, Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or 5 years of related clinical experience.
Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and in promoting a positive service atmosphere.
Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment producing quality work.
May require the ability to drive as part of routine job duties.
Responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The Clinical Pharmacist is required to carry a paging device and respond to all calls within a reasonable amount of time when on call. Rotate week-end and evening shift, holiday duties.
