Clinical Nurse Specialist - NICU- F/T Day- Exempt. This position reports to the Director of Education.

Provides an optimal practice environment that ensures the delivery of quality patient care through the use of research and quality improvement activities. Participates in the expert clinical practice, education, research, consultation, and clinical leadership as the major components of his or her role. Develops programs, policies, procedures, and standards of care to ensure patient's nursing care needs are assessed, evaluated, and met. Consults with clinical practitioners about the care planning for patients. Role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all hospital functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Provides clinical leadership and participates in the initial and ongoing evaluation of staff.

Responsibilities include: Teaching and education, research, clinical and professional leadership, clinical practice expertise, expert guidance and coaching, consultation, ethical decision making, case management, change agent and collaboration.

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center NICU is an 18-bed, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit dedicated to providing advanced, family-centered care for premature and critically ill newborns. Our expert team of neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and specialists work collaboratively to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care using state-of-the-art technology in a supportive healing environment. Through clinical excellence and a commitment to families, we help give our smallest patients the strongest possible start in life.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • California Fire and Life Safety Card - National Organization within 30 days of hire
  • 3 years clinical experience in a NICU equivalent to a Regional or Community Level Ill NICU.
  • Computer experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience
  • ACCNS-N (Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist - Neonatal)
  • CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) California Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)- Instructor Level
  • RNC-NIC (Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification)
