Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Manages follow-up for surveillance of breast cancer patients
  • Orders required diagnostic testing and communicates results.
  • Collaborates with physician to determine future treatment plan.
  • Return patients calls and discuss results with patients
  • Evaluates patients with abnormal mammograms and breast ultrasounds sent from the mammogram department
  • See new and follow up patients in clinic
  • Ensures patient confidentiality
  • Initiates referrals to other physicians and agencies
  • Assists with navigation of high risk breast cancer patients
  • Provides timely, courteous, and efficacious care to patients
  • Documents in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes treatments and medications in accordance with Alabama Physician Assistant scope of practice
  • Refers patients to attending physicians for consultation or assistance when needed
  • Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team in person and via telephone
  • Maintains patient and medical records and completes charge documents and code records for billing purposes (collections for services rendered are retained by the practice)
  • Updates and maintains electronic health records
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution and completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required OR
  • Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program and licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within two months of employment. Required
  • CRNP - Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the state of Alabama Required
  • licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse Required or
  • PA - Physician Assistant license in the state of Alabama Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
