Full Job Description
Labcorp Clinical Cytogenetics has a new opportunity for a Molecular Oncology Director (Clinical Cytogeneticist) to serve remotely.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or Tuesday - Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Work Location: Remote

Will support periodic visits to: 1904 TW Alexander, Durham, NC 27703

Job Responsibilities
  • Sign out laboratory test results for tests performed in Molecular Oncology.
  • Participate in oversight for quality control and quality assurance for existing and new tests, including proficiency testing.
  • Maintain familiarity with company SOPs, practices, and applicable professional, federal, state, and local regulations, and assure that the laboratory is in compliance.
  • Design, optimize, troubleshoot molecular assays in collaboration with R&D.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with R&D.
  • Analyze data for presentation or publication as needed
  • Review scientific literature and attend scientific meetings Required Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD and/or MD
  • ABMGG board certified in Molecular Genetics or have active candidate status.
  • ABP board certification or eligibility in Molecular Genetic Pathology for MD applicants
  • Certificate of Qualification or eligibility for NYS for Oncology- Molecular and cellular tumor markers
  • Excellent technical and communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for molecular diagnostic laboratory developed tests
  • Hands-on experience with real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing and laboratory automation/liquid handling solutions is desirable.
  • Strong background in experimental design, assay optimization, data analysis.
  • Experience working in a high complexity CLIA/CAP environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of relevant clinical lab experience at the director level
  • Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment
  • Substantial prior experience across a broad range of testing modalities and sample types (e.g., prenatal, postnatal, reproductive, oncology; karyotyping, array, OGM, qPCR)
  • Scholarly cytogenetics accomplishments with diagnostics expertise.
  • Experience and competency integrating molecular oncology with cytogenetics.

Additional Job Standards:
  • New York State Certificate of Qualification for candidates that reside in the state of New York.
  • California director's licensure in clinical cytogenetics for candidates that reside in the state of California.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

**Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000.00

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
