Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Histo Tech I (FGP) - Manhattan, Dermatology-Dermpath.

In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:Responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs the following routine histologic procedures: Accessioning Grossing/Wrapping of specimens Embedding procedures Section techniques involving hematoxylin and eosin Routine special staining such as demonstration of mucopolysaccharides, tissue fibers, pigments, infectious organisms like bacteria and fungiCover Slipping Slide documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Trains in the use of new laboratory equipment.
  • Helps maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Preparation of solutions required for any histological examination.


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associates degree from an approved clinical laboratory technician program. A high school degree will only be accepted if the individual has the designated experience defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway defined by NYS. Six months of experience in a histology laboratory. Certification by the NYS Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technician, Certified Histological Technician, or Pathologist Assistant is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:BS/BA in Science preferred; American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification as a Histology Technician (ASCP-HT) preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $85,391.41 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
