Position Description

The State University of New York College of Optometry is accepting applications for full-time clinical faculty positions. These positions have both clinical and academic responsibilities and appointments are made through the College and the University Eye Center (UEC). Clinical faculty are appointed to one or more of the UEC services: Adult and Pediatric Primary Care, Advanced Care, or Vision Rehabilitation.

Successful candidates are expected to contribute significantly to the College's mission in providing excellence in patient care, teaching, and scholarly activity. Clinical faculty responsibilities primarily include clinical supervision of students and occasional direct care assignments. Academic responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching in the optometry program, and an expectation of scholarship and participation in clinical research.

The SUNY College of Optometry, together with the UEC, seeks to develop a vibrant intellectual community of clinicians, teachers and researchers who work together on educational and clinical research. Candidate should have a record of educational and scholarly activity appropriate for their level of experience.

The position requires a Doctor of Optometry degree. Residency training or advanced degrees are highly desirable. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State at time of hire. Salary is commensurate with education, training and experience.

The minimum salary is $100k with final salary commensurate with education, training and experience. There is also a generous benefit package with fifteen days of annual leave per year and 13 paid holidays per year.
