Overview

• Department: Education

• Schedule: Full time, 8:00am-4:30p, flexibility required

• Facility: Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center 

• Location: Aurora, IL, 60506

 

Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience in the acute care/ICU setting with experience in leadership or education strongly preferred. 

Responsibilities

The Transition to Practice Educator provides continued educational support, training and mentoring to new nurses in the clinical area.  Ensuring a smooth transition to practice by providing unit-based support, coordinating the needs and resources for each new nurse by follow up during and after the orientation period. The Transition to Practice Educator will serve as a clinical liaison between education and clinical managers/coordinators to facilitate a timely release from orientation by assessing needs and performance in live time.  Once needs are identified, targeted knowledge and skill deficits can be addressed through the coordination of available resources. Addressing the specific needs of each new nurse will ensure their role development success as well as enhance patient outcomes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.     Must have a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.

2.     Current BLS (ARC/AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3.     Minimum of 2 years acute care experience.

4.     Minimum of 1 year preceptor experience.

5.     BSN preferred.
