Department: Community PracticeJob Title: Clinical Education Specialist - Nurse EducatorJob Summary:The Clinical Education Specialist is a registered nurse or equivalent who collaborates with the health care team to ensure safe, effective, evidence-based, and quality patient care in the ambulatory/clinic setting. The Clinical Education Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing education programs and professional development for ambulatory staff, focused on clinical outcomes, best practices, workflow optimizations, and staff/practice development. This role serves as the primary administrator for the Learning Management System for Community Practice. The Clinical Education Specialist will build, schedule, assign, launch, monitor, and report on training modules and learning campaigns while supporting compliance with module completion, licensure and certification documentation, competency records, and other required education items. The position supports new hire check-ins, mock medical emergency drills, CPR training events, and National Sedation Certification skills check-offs. The Clinical Education Specialist reports to the Manager of Education and Compliance and will work closely with the Quality Department, Regional Directors, Practice Leadership, and/or designee on the educational needs assessment and orientation programs for staff. The Clinical Education Specialist ensures that all competencies and skills are current and relevant for the clinic staff while acting as a change agent, leader, and role model to have all clinical staff work at the top of their licenses/certifications. The Clinical Education Specialist will aim to reduce fragmentation through best-practice education and skill competencies to ensure that all ambulatory services are of the highest quality and implemented throughout the CU Community Practice clinics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead onboarding and orientation by developing individualized learning plans, conducting new-hire check-ins, assessing progress, and supporting staff transitioning into new roles.
- Design and deliver clinical education through in-services, workshops, competency validation, CPR training events, equipment education, and other professional development activities.
- Serve as a clinical education resource by providing subject-matter expertise, precepting, coaching, and practice-based support to clinical staff across ambulatory multispecialty clinics.
- Promote standardized and safe clinical practice by reinforcing evidence-based policies, procedures, workflows, competency expectations, and emergency preparedness through mock medical emergency drills.
- Administer the Learning Management System by building, scheduling, assigning, launching, and distributing required and role-specific training modules.
- Monitor education and regulatory compliance by tracking module completion, competencies, licensure, certifications, and National Sedation Certification skills check-offs; following up on deficiencies; maintaining accurate records; and preparing leadership reports.
- Advance quality and continuous improvement by evaluating education outcomes, updating programs based on data and feedback, supporting patient safety and workflow initiatives, and collaborating with clinic leaders and organizational partners.
Work Location:Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in
Aurora, CO.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:- A bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's in Nursing Education or Adult Learning.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience in a medical office setting or ambulatory care.
- Nursing certification in specialty care area, professional development, or education.
- Certified Basic Life Support instructor.
- Experience with Ambulatory Epic, Articulate, HealthStream Learning Management.

- Current healthcare provider-level BLS CPR certification, maintained throughout employment.
- Registered nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado, maintained throughout employment.
- Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned (Denver Metro Area, Colorado Springs, etc.).
- Must be able to work in person.

- Computer Skills: MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
- Strong organizational and personal skills.
- Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

$83,794 to $104,742.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
