Job Description:

  • Ensures competency of Clinical Documentation Specialist staff through ongoing reviews and skills assessments.
  • Provides timely and constructive feedback to enhance staff development.
  • Leads hiring, training, and performance management processes for all site-based CDI employees.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for the CDI program. Coaches, mentors, and empowers employees to complete tasks by providing information and support.
  • Partners with coding leadership to ensure the accuracy of final DRG assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains time and attendance logs, approves PDO, and troubleshoots technical issues as needed.
  • Develops and/or utilizes educational programs to keep Clinical Documentation Specialists, physicians, service lines, and advisors up to date on regulatory changes and identified gaps.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Self-motivated [Required]
• Strong organizational skills [Required]
• Excellent speaking and presentation skills. [Required]
• Achieves 70% or greater on annual Clinical Competency Assessment [Required]
• Coding background [Preferred]
• Quality guidelines: IPPS, CMS guidelines. [Preferred]

• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Field of Study:
• ASN
• BSN

Work Experience:
• 1+ year of experience as a clinical documentation specialist and/or quality experience [Required]
• 2+ year cds experience required to sit for the exam [Required]
• 5+ years nursing experience in either med/surg or critical care [Required]

Pay Range:

$69,563.22 - $129,389.27
