Full Job Description
Rite Path Behavioral Health, a program of Rite of Passage, is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead clinical services at our Tempe outpatient clinic.

The Clinical Director will work closely with the Regional Director to oversee clinical quality, staff supervision, compliance, documentation, and day-to-day clinical operations. We are looking for a strong clinician and leader who can mentor therapists, maintain high clinical standards, and help grow our Tempe clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to therapists and behavioral health staff.
  • Provide individual and group clinical supervision, including supervision toward independent licensure when applicable.
  • Review clinical documentation for quality, medical necessity, compliance, and appropriate Golden Thread.
  • Provide consultation on complex cases, crisis situations, risk management, and clinical decision-making.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, caseloads, productivity, utilization, and quality of services.
  • Ensure compliance with Arizona regulations, AHCCCS, private insurance, and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in chart audits and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and evaluating clinical staff.
  • Lead clinical meetings, case consultations, and staff development activities.
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers, therapists, behavioral health staff, and administrative staff.
  • Work with the Regional Director on program development, clinic growth, and operational needs.
  • Maintain a limited clinical caseload or provide direct clinical services as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in counseling, social work, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current and unrestricted Arizona LPC or LCSW license.
  • Must be an Arizona-approved clinical supervisor or meet applicable Arizona requirements to provide clinical supervision toward independent licensure.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical documentation, and behavioral health treatment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supervising or leading behavioral health professionals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Manager, Lead Therapist, or similar leadership role.
  • Outpatient behavioral health experience.
  • Experience supervising clinicians working toward independent licensure.
  • Knowledge of AHCCCS requirements and behavioral health documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of billing practices for AHCCCS and private insurance.
  • Experience with clinical audits, quality improvement, utilization review, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
