Full Job Description
The Clinical Director (CD) is the CEO of their clinic. Clinical Directors manage operations and team members at their location. They will support BCBAs and RBTs by answering clinical programming questions and concerns. CDs communicate with families that have high-level concerns. CDs are responsible for establishing a positive atmosphere and supportive culture to facilitate RBT retention.

Responsibilities

Operational Execution & Performance Management
  • Execute established operational plans and initiatives defined by regional and organizational leadership to achieve clinic performance targets
  • Own and deliver defined clinic KPIs (utilization, productivity, staffing, dosage) through disciplined, data-driven management
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing ratios, capacity planning, and resource allocation to optimize service delivery and financial performance
  • Analyze performance data to diagnose gaps, adjust operational priorities in real time, and prevent metric decline
  • Participate in structured scorecard reviews and performance discussions to maintain accountability to defined targets

People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and empower the Clinical Supervisor, Office Manager, BCBAs, and RBTs to achieve clinical and organizational objectives
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture through active listening, coaching, action planning, and daily guidance
  • Reinforce and execute established leadership development programs and succession planning at the clinic level
  • Apply both accountability and praise evenly - recognizing wins with the same urgency as correcting concerns
  • Coach continuously, developing people daily with encouragement, feedback, and presence rather than waiting for formal reviews

Clinical-Operational Partnership
  • Partner with the Clinical Supervisor and BCBAs to ensure that operational decisions support clinical quality and client outcomes
  • Navigate the intersection of clinical priorities and operational demands with shared decision-making and mutual respect
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and scheduling to support supervision requirements, treatment fidelity, and continuity of care

Communication & Influence
  • Communicate with clarity, transparency, and professionalism across all levels; foster psychological safety across the team
  • Adapt communication style to audience - executive, peer, frontline, and family
  • Lead difficult conversations with empathy, directness, and follow-through
  • Influence clinic-level decisions through data, storytelling, and relationship - not just authority

Client & Family Experience
  • Champion a client-centered experience by aligning clinic operations to support family engagement, satisfaction, and retention
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex client and operational concerns, ensuring timely resolution and continuous quality improvement
  • Build and maintain relationships with families, including those who may be uninvolved, have had negative prior experiences, or are unfamiliar with ABA therapy.

Financial & Business Acumen
    • Manage clinic budget with discipline; monitor expenses, control costs, and ensure resources are allocated to support both clinical quality and financial performance
    • Review budget-to-actual performance regularly; identify variances and take corrective action to keep the clinic on financial target
    • Make informed staffing and scheduling decisions with an understanding of their direct impact on labor costs, utilization, and clinic profitability
    • Interpret financial reports and connect operational decisions to business outcomes
    • Understand the financial levers that drive clinic performance and use that knowledge to inform day-to-day operational decisions

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or related field preferred; equivalent demonstrated operational leadership experience considered, master's degree
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in operational leadership roles within healthcare, behavioral health, or related service industries
  • Proven success in managing budgets, driving performance improvements, and leading large, diverse teams
  • High emotional intelligence with excellent communication, change management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and ability to manage performance through data and defined KPIs
  • Full commitment to working onsite during designated hours

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision benefits
  • 401k with match
  • Short & long term disability
  • PTO, paid holidays, and paid family leave
