Responsibilities

The Clinical Director assumes twenty-four-hour responsibility for planning and coordinating the clinical and nursing personnel aspects for the assigned patient care areas to assure quality patient care. The Clinical Director is an integral part of the Nursing Management team and as a team member assist with establishing the goals, philosophy, and standards of the department. The Clinical Director collaborates with physicians and department heads to assure that patient care needs as related to other departments/disciplines are met.

The range for the role is $120,206- $150,258 annually.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
  • Master's of Science Degree in Nursing/Nursing Administration from an accredited school of nursing required. A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing with a commitment to obtain a MSN degree will be considered.


Minimum Experience:
  • Three years of clinical inpatient acute care experience with one year in nursing leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving theories and techniques, combined with flexibility and creativity, in working with a diverse population.
  • Must possess time management skills, highly developed verbal and written skills, problem solving capacity, critical thinking, and good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and work collaboratively with key physician roles and other nurse leaders.
  • EHR experience required.

Required Certification/Registration:
  • Currently licensed and registered to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
  • Successful completion of ACLS and PALS Provider Course upon hire.
  • Certification in specific area of nursing desired.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 required within one month of hire

Physical Requirements: Travel to multiple facilities is required. Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, push beds throughout the hospital, and perform external cardiac compressions. The individual must also be able to quickly maneuver through halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. May have occasional exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise that may result from performance of duties. May be exposed to agitated patients/families and varying unpredictable situations.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
