Description

The appointee will be expected to assist the Medical Director in evaluating and implementing new test, providing consultations to both clinicians and laboratory personnel, and overseeing the quality management program. The appointee will also perform review of SPEP/IFE results, participate in the teaching of clinical chemistry fellows in our ComACC-accredited Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program, as well as pathology residents and medical technologists, and conduct clinical and translational research.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have an MD, DO, or PhD.

MD or DO candidates must: 1) be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) in Clinical Pathology, 2) be certified or eligible for certification by either the ABPath in Chemical Pathology or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) in Clinical Chemistry, and 3) hold, or be eligible to obtain Illinois and Indiana medical licenses.

PhD candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the ABCC in Clinical Chemistry and must have completed fellowship training.

We especially welcome applicants with experience in general diagnostic clinical chemistry, laboratory automation systems, and middleware, preferably in a core laboratory setting. Additional experience in blood gas and point-of-care testing is highly desirable, as is experience with protein electrophoresis services. We also welcome applicants with strong problem-solving, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
