Sycuan Health Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate
Registered Nurse Clinic Manager to provide clinical leadership and oversee daily operations of our outpatient healthcare clinic. As the RN Clinic Manager, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating patient care, managing clinic staff, ensuring quality standards, supporting providers, and fostering a culture of teamwork and exceptional service.
Job Purpose:Responsible for day-to-day patient flow, nurse visits, triage, direct and indirect patient care, delegated responsibilities by Clinic Leadership and supervision of unlicensed staff as appropriate. Interprets, supports, and acknowledges Sycuan Health Center's mission and vision.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
- Performs clinical nursing duties within scope of practice; including patient intake, vital signs, physical assessments, diagnostic testing (e.g., EKGs, skin tests - tuberculin), specimen collection via throat, nasal and sputum cultures, basic and complex wound care, hot/cold compresses, removing sutures/staples, performing ear lavages, medication administration, oxygen therapy via mask or cannulas as prescribed, and assisting providers with exams and procedures.
- Coordinates daily clinic operations, including patient flow and direct/indirect patient care to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.
- Triages patients in person or via telephone appropriately and completes triage documentation by end of business day.
- Oversees and delegates responsibilities to all clinical staff; promoting teamwork and maintaining professional working relationships across the care team.
- Oversees all aspects of supervision and management for unlicensed staff, including front office personnel, medical assistants, in-home caregivers, radiology technician, and phlebotomist. Responsible for staffing operations, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, PTO management, timecard review and approval, staffing coverage, coaching and development, performance management, corrective action, and separation of employment, ensuring effective daily operations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Develops and provides staff in-service and education as needed to ensure the maintenance of staff competencies
- Monitors quality of care through direct observation, by ensuring that appropriate logs are kept including medication inventory, sample medication, oxygen tank pressure, refrigerator/freezer/ temperatures, immunization inventory, glucometer quality control logs, exam room check lists, and crash cart.
- Orders clinic supplies, vaccines, and medications as needed, to support uninterrupted operations.
- Intake of patients including taking all vital signs, and performing physical assessments on patients. Performing visual acuity, audiometry.
- Preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
- Phones prescriptions to pharmacies after the provider has reviewed and approved them.
- Applies DME orthotics, measuring for crutches, and education to patients on proper use.
- Relaying written or verbal instruction or information from provider regarding abnormal test results to patients after they are reviewed by providers.
- Taking telephone or verbal orders from providers.
- Acts as manager when provider is not on site, providing counseling, coaching and support to staff as appropriate.
- Attends all staff meetings and contributes to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment
- Active leadership role in creating and updating Sycuan Health Center policies, amending existing policies, participates in all medically related clinical Sycuan Health Center policies and procedures.
- Active leadership role in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures in collaboration with providers, for the medical clinic support staff.
- Active leadership role in Sycuan Health Center committees [such as infection prevention and control, quality improvement, provider team meetings, etc].
- Develops and offers patient education visits or events [like diabetic teaching] as requested by providers
- Active leadership and participation in specialty clinic events or clinical based community events, like flu clinic, mobile mammography, cancer screening, etc.
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service by greeting patients, visitors and providers in a courteous and respectful manner; responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills; consistently handles all requests in a positive manner.
- Performs other duties as needed within scope of practice.
Job Specifications:Education and Experience:
Essential:
- Active and current California Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR certification
- 2 years of leadership and/or manager experience
- 5 years as Registered Nurse
Desirable:
- Experience in outpatient clinic environment
- Tribal Clinic experience
