Position Overview

As Client Development Manager, you will help lead business development in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metro by building strong client relationships, generating a healthy pipeline of opportunities, and supporting the continued growth of the firm. We are looking for a resourceful, passionate, and dedicated professional who takes initiative, works well across teams, and is motivated by helping a growth-oriented firm win new work. In this client-facing role, you will collaborate with operational, marketing, and leadership teams to actively contribute to metro revenue growth by generating qualified opportunities, advancing pursuits, and helping convert relationships into awarded work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Relationship Development
    • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, industry partners, and decision-makers in the DFW Metro with a focus on identifying, shaping, and advancing opportunities into the active proposal pipeline.
    • Conduct client meetings, local outreach, and presentations that position McAdams' brand, capabilities, and differentiators in the market with the goal of identifying upcoming needs, influencing project opportunities early, and positioning McAdams for future pursuits.
      • Represent the firm in local and regional events, associations, and networking forums with the goal of uncovering qualified leads, strengthening target account access, and expanding the project pipeline.
      • Participate in leadership roles within industry-specific professional organizations and use those connections to create qualified opportunities, strengthen strategic relationships, and support proposal and revenue growth.
    • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement a targeted business development strategy for the DFW Metro that is designed to create proposal opportunities, expand pipeline, and contribute to metro revenue goals.
    • Partner with local leaders to identify, qualify, prioritize, and actively advance pursuits ensuring consistent movement of opportunities into proposals and awarded work.
      • Conduct market research and analyze local trends to identify emerging opportunities, strategic accounts, and priority sectors in the DFW Metro.
    • Support firmwide market sector efforts in designated strategic areas by coordinating local intelligence, relationships, and pursuit activity with enterprise priorities.
    • Team Leadership and Collaboration
    • Work closely with marketing, operational teams, and metro leadership to identify, position, and win new project opportunities, taking an active role in driving pursuit strategy, pre-positioning, and go/no-go alignment.
      • Collaborate with firm and metro leadership to inform annual business plans, target account priorities, and growth initiatives.
    • Help lead local business development meetings that drive accountability for pipeline progression, proposal readiness, and pursuit outcomes.
      • Encourage and coordinate participation in industry events, community organizations, and strategic market sector initiatives with technical staff to expand reach and visibility in the metro.
      • Support business development best practices by helping teams use planning tools, pursue target accounts, and coordinate activity across metro and market sector efforts.
    • Client Experience
      • Conduct regular touchpoints with key clients and partners to understand future needs, strengthen relationships, and identify opportunities for local leaders to engage.
      • Monitor client feedback, relationship health, and project touchpoints to identify retention, cross-sell, and improvement opportunities.
      • Coordinate with technical teams and local leaders to ensure client experience insights, inform pursuit strategy, relationship planning, and ongoing service delivery.

Skills + Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, business, marketing or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in business development or a similar role in the A/E/C industry
  • Proven track record of success driving revenue growth
  • Leadership role(s) in industry professional organizations (A4LE, SCUP, NAIOP, 7x24, TREC, GFW REC, CREW, AIA, etc.), active roles preferred
  • Strong understanding of the A/E/C industry and market trends
  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively in various work settings
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
  • Ability to travel as needed

Work Environment + Physical Demands
  • Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
