Overview

As a Client Delivery Partner (CDP) - Oil and Gas Industry, you are accountable to Microsoft's largest oil and gas customers for the successful planning and execution of business and technology transformation programs. You combine deep industry expertise with leadership of large-scale transformation initiatives to help customers modernize operations, accelerate innovation, and achieve measurable business outcomes.

You serve as a trusted advisor to customer executives, partnering with leaders across Information Technology, Exploration & Production (Upstream), Midstream & Downstream Operations, Supply Chain & Logistics, Subsurface & Engineering, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and Digital Transformation organizations. Leveraging Microsoft's technology portfolio, ecosystem, and delivery capabilities, you help customers transform how energy resources are explored, produced, refined, transported, and delivered in an increasingly data-driven and AI-powered world.

The job location for this role is Houston, Texas with up to 4 days in-office/with the customer onsite.

Responsibilities

Drive outcome-based client value through energy transformation, innovation, and industry thought leadership
  • Leverage oil and gas industry expertise to shape client strategy and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Co-create transformation roadmaps focused on operational excellence, production optimization, asset integrity, supply chain resilience, workforce productivity, safety, sustainability and energy transition, and digital oilfield initiatives.
  • Help customers modernize core oil and gas capabilities including field development, exploration and production operations, drilling and well management, asset integrity and maintenance, refining and processing, and hydrocarbon supply chain and logistics functions.
  • Drive innovation through cloud, AI, advanced analytics, intelligent automation, and industrial and subsurface data platforms.
  • Maintain a strong industry presence through oil and gas and energy forums, customer engagements, and thought leadership activities.

Build durable, trust-based relationships
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customer executives through deep understanding of oil and gas business models, operational priorities, and industry trends.
  • Build executive relationships across CIO, COO, Upstream/E&P, Midstream & Downstream Operations, Supply Chain, Subsurface & Engineering, HSE, and Digital Transformation leadership teams.
  • Partner with Microsoft executives to align industry insights, technology strategy, and customer business outcomes.

Enable sustainable account growth through long-term strategy and execution
  • Develop multi-year transformation strategies aligned to customer priorities and measurable operational outcomes.
  • Help originate opportunities that accelerate modernization across upstream, midstream, downstream, supply chain, engineering, data, and AI initiatives.
  • Ensure delivery excellence across solution development, implementation, adoption, and realization of business value.

Leadership and develop people.
  • Lead individuals within a matrixed professional services team; provide performance feedback and mentor future leaders.
  • Guide Microsoft teams on client engagement strategies and scalable, repeatable solutions.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or related field AND 10+ years solution delivery, customer-facing consulting, or digital transformation experience.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or related field AND 12+ years solution delivery, customer-facing consulting, or digital transformation experience.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years leadership experience in a matrixed environment.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • 12+ years relevant experience within oil and gas, energy, oilfield services, petrochemicals, or related process and energy industries (upstream, midstream, or downstream).
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale digital transformation, modernization, or business transformation programs for oil and gas or energy organizations.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas and supply chain business processes, operating models, and performance metrics.
  • Experience engaging executive stakeholders across production and field operations, midstream and downstream, supply chain, subsurface and engineering, HSE, and technology organizations.
  • Experience delivering programs involving one or more of the following domains:
    • Exploration & Production (Upstream) and Digital Oilfield initiatives
    • Midstream & Downstream Operations (pipelines, refining, petrochemicals)
    • Asset Performance Management and Asset Integrity
    • Production Operations Management (SCADA / production surveillance systems)
    • Industrial IoT and Connected Field Operations
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
    • Data, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence solutions
    • HSE, Emissions Management, and Energy Transition / Decarbonization
  • Experience executing transformation strategies in complex, global oil and gas environments involving multiple business units, partners, and system integrators.
  • 12+ years relevant work experience within Professional Services industry.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in financial management (e.g. profit and loss).
  • Management consulting experience, influencing executive decisions and driving business outcomes.
  • Experience running disciplined customer and business review processes with cross-functional teams, prioritizing blockers, and problem solving across organizational boundaries.


Client Delivery Partnership IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $146,000 - $243,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $184,400 - $267,000 per year.
