Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The IP Litigation Paralegal is responsible for assisting and supporting a project team of attorneys in the Cleveland office and other Firm offices, as needed. Responsibilities include: trial support, such as pre-trial and post-trial logistics; conducting statutory, regulatory, or factual research with respect to client matters; participating in due diligence, privilege, and other reviews of client records and files; initiating pleadings, fact and expert discovery, and motion practice; assisting with organization of client materials and attorney work product, including use of databases, imaging systems, and other computer-based technology; maintaining pleadings files and other case or project records; maintaining chronological records of project activity; arranging filings, mailings, and service list deliveries with appropriate courts, government agencies, and other parties; under supervision of a lawyer, draft, edit, cite-check, conform, and otherwise assist in the preparation of legal documents; obtain services from outside contractors including court reporters, research services, exhibit preparation services, filing services and printers; process billing and disbursement paperwork in connection with contractor services; act as liaison for the project team with support staff departments and other offices of the Firm. Travel required as needed for trials and to other Jones Day offices.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum three years' experience in litigation. The ideal candidate will have five or more years' experience as an intellectual property/ litigation paralegal.
  • Familiarity with e-filing and e-discovery procedures for federal courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Prior experience supporting litigation matters through trial, including trial preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom support, preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required and work overtime based on workload, deadlines, and business needs.

Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors. The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $125,000.
