What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking a dedicated and hardworking professional to serve as the Division 8000 Business Administrator (DBA) and Deterrence, Science, & Energy (DSE) Portfolio Lead (job title: Business Operations Specialist). This high-impact leadership role combines financial operations, portfolio management, and business administration responsibilities to directly support Laboratory mission needs and interact frequently with Executive Leadership teams across Sandia National Laboratories.This position offers a unique opportunity to influence and inform Laboratory-wide decisions, providing outstanding career growth and the chance to have national and global impact.
On any given day you may be called on to:
- Provide full-spectrum financial management and analysis to assess the health of direct and indirect portfolios, including Indirect Cost Pool, Rates, Budget Authority, Cost Plan Management, Direct Cost and Funding, Continuing Resolution management, and Reporting
- Lead DSE Portfolio assurance activities encompassing funding, cost, overall portfolio management, and performance
- Perform affordability projections, estimates, analysis, and reviews for major corporate deliverables
- Develop specialized analytics to support NNSA and Sandia executive decision-making on long-range objectives and strategic plans
- Lead the planning, execution, influencing, and driving of laboratory projection processes, including corporate projections, assurance, workforce planning, and Indirect Sizing/PPBE
- Manage Division, Center, and/or Program operations and business rhythms, ensuring alignment with corporate financial and project management requirements
- Influence, make recommendations, and propose solutions for complex and broad-ranging business matters to Senior Managers, Directors, and Executive Management
- Lead continuous improvement, benchmarking, and automation of processes, procedures, and tools on behalf of the Corporation
- Serve as a recognized authority and corporate resource in your functional area, holding decision-making authority related to cost, schedule, and performance within organizational parameters
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including DOE/NNSA/SFO, to negotiate agreements, manage funding, and ensure programmatic priorities are met
- Develop and mentor the next generation of business leaders and subject matter experts
- Take proactive steps to resolve Laboratory-wide issues and risks, sharing institutional knowledge to serve the greater good
- Partner with the Integrated Security Mission (ISM) Deputy Labs Directorate (DLD) and CFO business teams to support DLD reporting and Indirect Budget Management in support of the FY27 Financial Model
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work at the Livermore, CA site. Occasional travel may be required.
Salary Range$139,900 - $237,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- Bachelor's degree in Business or a relevant field, plus twelve or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job
- Experience working in a Program, Portfolio, or Division Business Office
- Experience with analytical tools, such as Power BI, supporting decision-making (e.g., dashboards, historical trend analysis, probability analysis, predictive analysis)
- Active DOE-Q level security clearance; or active DOE L-level security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire- Experience interacting with, advising, and briefing executive leadership teams
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new processes and initiate improvement activities creatively and innovatively
- Ability to analyze environmental landscapes and data to identify innovative solutions and develop sound recommendations influencing leadership decisions

- Proven leadership in fast-paced, time-sensitive, and ambiguous environments
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills applied to resolve complex business matters
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience managing portfolio financials and business operations in alignment with strategic guidance
- Familiarity with Sandia's Financial policies, indirect program/business operations is a plus
