Position SummaryThe Property Claims Manager is responsible for leading and developing both internal and external claims professionals responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of property claims.
This leadership role oversees daily claims operations, ensures regulatory and procedural compliance, drives operational excellence, mentors team members, and helps shape the strategic direction of the Property Claims organization.
What You'll Do- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of property claims professionals.
- Oversee claim investigations, evaluations, negotiations, and settlements while ensuring adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review new claims and assign work based on complexity, expertise, and workload.
- Provide settlement authority guidance and technical expertise to claims adjusters.
- Conduct open and closed file audits to promote quality, consistency, and operational excellence.
- Manage complex, high-exposure property claims and develop effective resolution strategies.
- Analyze claims trends, financial performance, reserve adequacy, and loss adjustment expenses while providing recommendations to senior leadership.
- Build strong partnerships with policyholders, agents, independent adjusters, attorneys, vendors, and internal business partners.
- Interpret policy language and state-specific regulations to support sound coverage decisions.
- Represent the company during mediations, settlement conferences, and legal proceedings when appropriate.
- Support catastrophe (CAT) planning and operational response during weather events.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in departmental initiatives, system enhancements, testing, and process improvement efforts.
- Partner closely with Underwriting, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and executive leadership to achieve organizational objectives.
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree preferred (equivalent education and experience considered).
- Florida 6-20 All-Lines Adjuster License required.
- 4+ years of leadership experience managing Personal or Commercial Property Claims teams.
- Strong technical expertise in property claims handling, coverage analysis, litigation management, and claims regulations.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing claims professionals.
- Working knowledge of Xactimate, XactAnalysis, and XactNet preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities.
