As a Claims Examiner, you'll play a key role in managing casualty claims from investigation through resolution. This position combines analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and skilled negotiation to ensure fair and timely claim resolution. You'll work closely with experienced claims professionals and legal partners while handling a diverse portfolio of claims, including litigated claims. What You'll Do- Managing the full lifecycle of bodily injury liability claims under the guidance of a Claims Supervisor.
- Interpreting policy coverage and drafting clear, professional coverage correspondence.
- Communicating coverage determinations effectively to policyholders, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Conducting thorough investigations to evaluate liability, damages, and exposure.
- Managing litigated claims, including appointing and directing defense counsel.
- Driving litigation strategy proactively toward efficient and fair resolution.
- Negotiating claims to resolution with sound judgment and strong business acumen.
- Participating in mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
- Maintaining accurate, well-documented claim files.
What You Bring- Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience. Prior experience handling commercial liability claims involving bodily injury is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident negotiation skills and sound decision-making ability.
- Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience directing investigations and working with defense counsel is a plus.
- Ability to analyze medical records, contracts (including risk transfer provisions), and litigation documents is a plus.
- Adjuster licenses or industry designations are a plus.
