Claim Manager

Location:Houston, TX (must be able to reliably commute)

Schedule:Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (CST)

Salary Range:$105,000 - $114,000

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Claim Manager to oversee workers' compensation claims and claims operations for a dedicated Texas school district account. In this leadership role, you will manage claim outcomes, guide and develop claims professionals, ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, and partner with clients to deliver exceptional service. The position combines technical claim expertise with staff leadership, workflow management, and operational oversight, offering a strong opportunity for continued growth within claims management leadership. Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and improve workflow processes while overseeing individual caseloads to promote operational efficiency and service excellence.
  • Review, assign, supervise, investigate, evaluate, and adjust assigned workers' compensation claims in accordance with Corporate Claim Standards, client-specific instructions, applicable laws, and established authority levels.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves and authorize claim payments within delegated authority.
  • Oversee medical, legal, damage estimate, and other claim-related expenses, resolving disputed invoices when necessary.
  • Negotiate settlements and direct the handling of litigated, complex, and high-exposure claims.
  • Maintain claim diaries and monitor claim activity to ensure timely and effective claim resolution.
  • Provide leadership, training, coaching, performance management, and developmental support to claim staff.
  • Attend client meetings, board meetings, file reviews, hearings, mediations, legal conferences, and training sessions as requested.
  • Monitor compliance with Corporate Claim Standards, client handling instructions, statutes, regulations, and applicable case law.
  • Stay current on legislative, industry, and market developments and communicate relevant impacts to staff.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of (preferably) supervisory experience in work comp or related field required.
  • 15+ years ofTexasclaims handling experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and achieve performance goals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Working knowledge of lower-level claims roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong customer service focus with a commitment to meeting internal and external client needs.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance during designated client service hours.

Nice to Have:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency 6 highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required
  • Bachelor's Degree

The posted salary reflects CCMSI9s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
