Hunt Guillot & Associates (HGA) is seeking an experienced
Civil Superintendent to support a major $200MM industrial plant expansion project on behalf of one of our industrial clients in
East Chicago, Indiana. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role requiring a seasoned field professional who can manage civil construction activities from mobilization through substantial completion. HGA provides direct on-site support and serves as the bridge between our client and the project team, ensuring quality, schedule, and safety standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day field oversight of all civil construction activities on an active industrial plant expansion site
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, craft labor, and field crews across all civil scopes
- Monitor and enforce quality standards for excavation, soils testing, concrete placement, rebar inspection, formwork, and dewatering operations
- Maintain survey control and coordinate with survey crews to ensure work is built per design and specifications
- Track and report on schedule milestones; proactively identify and resolve field conflicts to maintain project schedule
- Conduct and document daily field inspections, safety walk-downs, and punch list activities Interface directly with the on-site
- Project Manager and client representatives on field-level issues, RFIs, and status updates Enforce site safety protocols in compliance with client, OSHA, and HGA standards
Required Qualifications- 10+ years of civil construction experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a superintendent or field leadership role
- Demonstrated experience on large-scale industrial, petrochemical, or heavy civil projects ($100MM+) Hands-on expertise in excavation, soils and concrete testing, rebar inspection, formwork, and dewatering Working knowledge of survey control methods and construction layout
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple trades and project stakeholders
- Experience with other construction trades (structural, mechanical, piping, electrical) is a strong plus OSHA 30 required; NCCER or other relevant certifications preferred
