The Opportunity

In this role, you'll contribute to technical and feasibility studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, quality surveillance, commissioning and asset management for some of the most significant nuclear projects in the country. Our Nuclear division is operating at an exciting time as nuclear power and new technology solutions are advancing globally, with Canada leading the way in nuclear refurbishments, new builds, major capital project portfolios and a deep, established nuclear supply chain.

As a CivilStructural Engineer - Nuclear, you'll bring your structural engineering and structural dynamics expertise to complex, safety-critical facilities and assets.

This role can be based out of one of our Ontario offices, with potential project-related travel to Tiverton, Toronto, Pickering, Oshawa (Ontario) and Saint John (New Brunswick), as required.

Your Impact

In this role, you will:
  • Define civil and structural design criteria and prepare specifications, calculations, and MTOs to meet nuclear project and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce detailed civil and structural designs for concrete foundations, piling, steel structures, and related systems.
  • Develop and review structural and dynamic models (including FEA) for complex loads, dynamic foundations, and rotating equipment.
  • Support design planning, scheduling, and cost control activities aligned with the Project Plan.
  • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary problem-solving, providing practical solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Perform on-site inspections and walkdowns to verify design intent and support construction and commissioning.
  • Prepare clear engineering deliverables, including budgets, schedules, work plans, tenders, reports, and calculations.
  • Review and stamp drawings and documents, applying relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians through coaching and peer review.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and quality outcomes.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • A minimum university degree in Structural Engineering and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed as a P.Eng in a Canadian province or PE in the US, or eligible for registration, with demonstrated experience interpreting and applying relevant concrete and steel design codes and industrial standards.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering civil/structural designs in the nuclear power plant industry or similar complex power/heavy industrial environments, ideally including dynamic foundations and rotating equipment. Individuals
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and FEA software such as SAP2000, ETABS, S-Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6; experience with Python for analysis or automation is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA N287, CSA A23, CSA N289, CSA N291, ACI & AISI Codes & Standards
  • Comfortable working in both office and site environments, with the ability and willingness to travel to project sites such as Tiverton, Pickering, Oshawa, Toronto and Saint John, as project needs required.
  • Required: Able to meet and maintain Security Clearance requirements to work on nuclear projects in Canada.

Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 - $151,800
  • MB & ON: $104,500 - $143,900
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $103,500 - $137,400
