Compensation highly depends on experience and education. Applicants with more substantial (and/or forensic) experience should expect higher compensation.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:- Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial properties
- Determine of the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
- Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluations
- Analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
Position Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required, Master's degree a plus
- A minimum of seven years of post-academic civil/structural experience
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
