Role description:As part of our continued growth in Western Canada, we are seeking a motivated and technically capable Civil Site Engineer to support our Senior Resident Engineer and site-based construction supervision team in Vancouver. This role is ideally suited to an engineer with strong field experience who enjoys working directly with contractors, inspectors, designers, and clients to deliver large and complex infrastructure projects.
The Civil Site Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC), assisting with field reviews, construction monitoring, technical coordination, QA/QC verification, contractor submissions, and project documentation. The successful candidate will be a highly visible presence on site and will work closely with the Senior Resident Engineer to ensure that construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in conformance with the design intent, project specifications, permits, and applicable codes.
The role offers significant opportunities for technical growth through direct involvement in major transportation, marine, tunneling, port, heavy civil, and infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Engineers of Record and construction professionals.
Role accountabilities:In this role, you will support the
Senior Resident Engineer in the day-to-day delivery of site engineering and construction supervision activities, helping to ensure that civil, structural, and geotechnical works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, design intent, and permit requirements. You will maintain close oversight of field activities to confirm that construction is progressing to the required quality standards and in line with project expectations.
You will carry out regular
site inspections and field reviews, monitoring progress and identifying technical or constructability issues early so they can be addressed before affecting schedule, cost, quality, or safety. The role also includes reviewing contractor submissions such as
RFIs, technical queries, method statements, inspection and test plans, shop drawings, material submittals, and temporary works proposals. By coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, designers, and client representatives, you will help ensure that technical requirements are clearly communicated and effectively implemented on site.
In addition, you will support strong
documentation, quality assurance, and project controls processes throughout construction. This includes recording field observations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and non-conformances, as well as participating in progress meetings, technical workshops, and coordination sessions to capture decisions and follow up on action items. You will also verify installed works, collect field measurements, review as-built information, and support testing, commissioning, punch listing, handover, and project close-out activities, while promoting a strong
safety culture through active involvement in site safety inspections, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and incident prevention initiatives.
