Civil Project Designer | Anaheim, CA

IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Designer in Southern California, with the opportunity to be based in Anaheim, Ontario, or Pasadena. This role leads design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborates with senior staff on the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. You will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes.

In this role, you will support project planning, budgeting, permitting, and construction administration while mentoring Civil Design Technicians and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

The team serves survey, transportation, and municipal work across Southern California and the Southwest, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do
• Lead design efforts for low to moderate complexity civil site projects and support senior staff on larger, high complexity work.
• Direct and train Civil Design Technicians in completing reports, exhibits, plans, specifications, and permit applications as required by the project's contractual scope.
• Perform engineering analysis, design field inspections, and site drainage and grading design.
• Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Complete and oversee permit applications for a variety of municipalities in coordination with the team, Client, and reviewing jurisdiction.
• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase.
• Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
• Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects and lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
• Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended.
• Analyze engineering problems, collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions, and identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
• Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work, interpret state and local design criteria, and stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best

practices in civil engineering while contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.

What You'll Bring

Required Education and Experience

Qualifications (one of the following):

Option A:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
• 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

OR

Option B:
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry

Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D
• Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
• Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
• Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred

• Recent work includes Kaiser Medical Center Ontario, Healthcare; McKinley School Relocatable Classrooms, Education; and Toyota NAPCC Fencing, Industrial
