Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is recruiting to fill a Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced (Planning Engineer) position within the Southwest Region. This position can be headquartered in our Madison office. This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the DTSD Madison, WI office at least 2 days per week. Position Summary The primary function of this position is to serve the Southwest Region as the resource for advanced engineering level analysis and decision-making expertise regarding all state highway access proposals, from private driveway access to regional External Development access proposals. This position will also participate in the development of statewide access management policy. This position serves as the Access Control Program Engineer for their assigned counties within the Region. This position co-chairs the SW Region Access Committee, providing the Region with advanced level engineering expertise in access management. As co-chair, this position will utilize the technical input of the Access Committee in making recommendations regarding changes to access for management approval. This position will also work closely with Region staff in the delivery of corridor preservation and land use projects applying both engineering and access management analysis principles to fully implement the preservation plans. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $92,768 - $114,483, plus excellent benefits. Plus an additional $2,080 per year for a Professional Engineer License. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. A $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have any prior permanent full-time state service in the last five years and agree to remain in the position for one year.
