Who are we looking for? GHD has an exciting opportunity for an experienced
Civil Engineer to join our growing team within the Engineering Design Organization (EDO). The applicant should be knowledgeable in the delivery of civil design projects, including execution and delegation of tasks. You will be supporting a wide variety of clients, both public and private, spanning multiple industries and market sectors. This position will be based out of any of our California offices
(Irvine, San Diego, Long Beach, Concord, Santa Rosa, Roseville, Sacramento, Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Redding, or Roseville). Our Hybrid Work Model Be part of the dynamic culture! Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: - Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
- Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
- Knowledge Management System: Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Engineering Observations: Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- CA PE preferred
Experience - Minimum 5 years experience
- Understands civil site design and what goes along with it - site & access improvements, site utility layout and design, grading and stormwater drainage
- General Utilities- Stormwater, Sanitary Sewer, Recycled Water, Electrical
- Knowledge of accessibility design preferred
- Entitlement / land use planning - understanding of agencies permitting approval process
- Ability to assemble plan specs and estimates (PS &E)
- Storm Water design - Hydrology, hydraulics (closed conduit and open channel flow), hydromodification, storm water quality
- NAVFAC experience is a plus
- Design Build Experience a plus
Salary Range: $83,000-$138.000 based on experience
