Full Job Description
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Honolulu office. This role involves assisting with the planning, design, plan production, and potentially construction support for various Federal, Municipal, and Private client projects. These projects may include site civil design, rough and precise grading, dredging, drainage design, and utility design (sewer, water, and storm drain).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the completion of construction projects by preparing engineering designs and documents and confirming specifications
  • Aid in the design of construction projects by studying project concepts, architectural drawings, and models
  • Support the preparation of engineering designs through collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
  • Help determine project costs by calculating labor, material, and related expenses
  • Contribute to the creation of feasibility studies by analyzing engineering designs, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience is required
    • Previous experience or internship/cooperative education in heavy civil or marine/waterfront design is strongly preferred
  • Engineer In Training certification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or a comparable drafting platform is required
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or a comparable equivalent is required
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Due to client parameters, selected candidate must show (post offer) proof of U.S. citizenship and clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.

Base salary range:

$36.00 to $41.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.
