The Data Center Design TeamExamples of key problems the team is working on- Lead the design, development, and execution of 50GW+ of data centers this decade.
- Drive the next generation of liquid cooling and electrical distribution systems.
- Develop and scale first-of-a-kind modular data centers.
- Influence behind-the-meter designs and planning for multi-GW campuses.
Role Scope- Own the civil engineering workstream across a multi-site, multi-state development portfolio, from early site screening through design, permitting, and construction completion.
- Lead civil due diligence for greenfield and conversion sites: topography, drainage, utilities, soils, floodplain, and environmental constraints.
- Direct geotechnical investigations: scope RFPs, review boring programs, interpret reports, and assign design actions.
- Review traffic studies and offsite infrastructure requirements, and flag civil cost and schedule risk during site selection.
- Develop and maintain civil basis of design, standard details, and specs, and manage external civil consultants through IFC.
- Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, local authorities, GCs, and project teams as the site civil authority (grading, drainage, utilities, floodplain, earthwork).
What We're Looking ForThe below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.- You've owned civil engineering on large-scale site development, ideally owner/developer-side, and you want deep data center exposure.
- You run civil due diligence and read geotech reports well enough to assign design actions and catch fatal flaws early.
- You manage external civil consultants and hold them to a standard through IFC.
- You know grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, and earthwork for large-format sites.
- You spot civil cost and constructability risk during site selection, not after.
- Bonus: PE license or active pursuit. Data center, industrial, or large-site development. Civil 3D. Multi-state permitting. Conversion and retrofit sites.
