City: Miami State: Florida Summary: • The following job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Instead, it is intended to delineate areas of responsibility and expectations. • This position is responsible for managing the engineering and construction of civil engineering projects. • Responsible for the coordination and supervision of engineering work performed in water mains and water meters, stormwater, sanitary sewers, general engineering, traffic, and other engineering projects. • Candidates with experience in Public Works or Capital Improvement Projects is a plus. • Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Review the Design-Build contractor's plans and specifications for RFP compliance, constructability, and technical correctness. • Coordinates the work of engineering consultants, reviews, makes a recommendation for changes and makes recommendations for approving plans, specifications, and bidding documents, negotiates change orders, and reviews and approved payments. • Prepares statements of Qualifications (RFQs) regarding professional engineering, construction inspection, construction management, and materials testing services. • Subsequently reviews and evaluates SOQs and assists in recommending the selection process, scoping, and negotiating professional services agreements. • Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations on accepting/rejecting construction contract bids, attends, and assists in coordinating pre-bid, pre-construction, and construction meetings. • Monitors construction contracts and professional services agreements, ensure compliance with those agreements and contracts, and processes invoices for work completed under those contracts and agreements. • Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned. • NOTE: Management retains the discretion to add to or change the position's duties at any time. #IND7 Qualifications • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience • Florida Licensed Professional Engineering (PE). • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering discipline, and four (4) years of practical engineering experience, including two (2) years of civil engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Considerable knowledge of civil engineering practices and procedures involving water, wastewater, stormwater, roadway and bridge plan design, or floodplain management. • Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
