Civil EngineerCalgary, ABOur Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a Civil Engineer with a diverse background in infrastructure and/or oil and gas to join our group in Calgary. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the team and plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of civil projects.
A Day in the Life- Perform civil design for a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, including design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation infrastructure
- A strong background in water resources is preferred
- Provide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications
- Carry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports and contract documentation
- Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations
- Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standards
- Assist in creating a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factors
- Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they arise
What You'll Bring to the Team- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (other disciplines encouraged to apply if practicing Civil Engineering)
- Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Alberta
- 10+ years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure and/or oil and gas projects
- Experience with modelling tools such as Infoworks, ICM, HEC-RAS, Mike Plus or similar modelling software would be considered an asset
- Experience in hydraulic analysis and design is also considered an asset
- Strong project management, technical and analytical skills
- Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals
- Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designers
- Good organization skills and strong attention to detail
