Civil Designer at BSC Group, Inc. in Glastonbury, CT. Eligible to telecommute 2 days/week from a home office within normal commuting distance of the Glastonbury, CT office. Wage: $90,605/yr full time.
Job Duties:
The Civil Designer will work closely with a team of experienced professionals to support civil engineering projects and contribute to the successful completion of projects in areas such as transportation, water
resources, and site development. They will work with multidisciplinary teams to help develop strategies and solutions for challenging assignments. Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assist senior engineers in the planning, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects.
- Perform research and data collection to support project development.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to create drawings and designs.
- Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and reports for review.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Participate in the permit application process.
- Work closely with project teams, including engineers, landscape architects, and surveyors.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Perform all other related tasks as requested by the Civil Team Lead/Civil Project Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Must have passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or eligible to sit for the exam to obtain their E.I.T. within 6 months of hire.
- Must have OSHA certification or be willing to complete and pass the OSHA 10-Hour Certification exam during first week of hire.
- Must have the following as demonstrated by education/coursework, prior internships or experience:
- Knowledge of basic site design, grading, and drainage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Understanding of civil engineering principles and fundamentals
Must be willing to perform inspection work for clients all across New England and travel approximately 2 days a week every other week, or 20% of the time.
