Description

The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for overseeing camera looks and camera operations for IGNE shoots across multiple team endeavors spanning across core, branded, and event departments and as such, requires an individual who is collaborative and approachable. As the world's biggest games and entertainment media outlet there are times where production is juggling multiple projects simultaneously and to that end, the ideal candidate should be able to multitask and work efficiently. Productions at IGNE also vary from small, 4 person shoots to far larger projects with 30+ personnel shooting both locally and on location across the globe.

This is a full-time, strictly in-office role based out of our Los Angeles location, requiring a standard Monday through Friday schedule. However, due to the nature of event management, client needs, and equipment load-in/load-out schedules, candidates must be flexible and willing to work outside of typical business hours, including evenings and weekends. Travel is a key component of this position, ranging from local site visits to global and international events as required. Physically, the role demands a mix of standard office activities-such as extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer work-alongside more rigorous onsite and studio demands. You must be able to lift and bend up to 25 pounds to handle tasks like moving, loading, and unloading equipment, setting up lights, and operating a range of camera gear from handhelds to jibs, as well as navigating airports, hotels, and various venues during travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead consultant on camera looks in the IGN studios, off-site events, and field shoots when assigned. Looks may include lighting, camera placement, and camera moves.
  • Works directly with both core content and branded producers to define creative visions for productions.
  • Responsible for camera settings, ensuring that each is set to the ideal shuttle angle and aperture on every production.
  • Defines lighting requirements - ensures the lighting system is up and running, working with external Lighting Director as needed on adding, re-configuring, and/or operating lights.
  • Oversees that the camera inventory is in place, all cameras and their support systems are in working order, and is responsible for ensuring any maintenance necessary is performed.
  • Oversees cameras and lighting check-outs and check-ins for field shoots.
  • Assists Project and Production Managers with studio production schedules and staffing, helping source camera operators, Directors of Photographs to fill-in, and other resourcing as needed.
  • Works with producers and other camera operators on operations and safety of studio, field cameras and their support systems, along with grip and other in-studio production gear used to assist in camera and lighting set up.
