Full Job Description
Position: CI Leader

Reports To: GM/ President

Direct Reports:No Direct Reports(influences through coaching and facilitation)

Summary

The CI Leader role is a key position within the organization with responsibility for leading and supporting process improvement efforts within HPG; as well as collaborate with other Precinmac locations. The focus of these improvement efforts is to build organizational capability to deliver process improvements, increase productivity and stakeholder value.

The CI Leader will be a hands-on team player who works with the departmental leaders to drive action and implementation of process improvements. The CI Leader must be capable of managing outside their area of control.

Job Responsibilities:

Continuous Improvement & Lean Deployment
  • Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives across manufacturing, materials, quality, and support functions using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Facilitate problem identification at the point of work and guide teams in applying practical countermeasures rather than theoretical solutions.
  • Coach teams through structured problem-solving such as A3 thinking, root cause analysis, standard work, visual management, and Kaizen.

Capability Building & Coaching
  • Coach leaders, supervisors, and team members on Lean fundamentals including 6S, waste identification, flow, standard work, quick changeover, and visual management.
  • Develop and deploy simple, practical learning tools such as One Point Lessons (OPLs), huddle content, and hands-on simulations.
  • Act as a trusted coach to departmental Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), enabling them to own and sustain improvements.

Idea Generation & Engagement Systems
  • Design and support structured idea generation systems that encourage employee participation and accountability.
  • Enable departments to move ideas from concept to implementation by removing barriers, clarifying ownership, and supporting prioritization.
  • Partner with leaders to create meaningful recognition and feedback loops that reinforce CI behaviors.

Huddles, Daily Management & Accountability
  • Strengthen daily huddles by embedding problem-solving, learning, and leadership presence.
  • Support the development of clear visual metrics tied to site objectives and help teams use them for daily decision-making.
  • Coach leaders on how to ask effective questions, recognize wins, and support teams in closing gaps.

Productivity & Performance Management
  • Support the development and ongoing management of the site productivity and CI pipeline.
  • Track progress, surface risks, and support countermeasures to ensure initiatives deliver measurable impact.
  • Provide concise, actionable updates to senior leadership, focused on learning, outcomes, and next steps.

Safety & Risk Awareness
  • Integrate safety thinking into CI efforts, including near-miss identification, hazard awareness, and proactive risk reduction.
  • Support engagement-based safety activities that align with daily operations

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration
  • Work cross-functionally to align improvement efforts with site priorities and constraints.
  • Research and adapt best practices suitable for small-to-medium manufacturing environments.

Other
  • Periodic travel may be required for project support or training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that align with continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements
  • Six Sigma certification, Black Belt Preferred
  • Previous experience with Six Sigma tools and methodology is a requirement. Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools with the ability to teach and apply them simply and practically.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and teach Lean Methodologies and Operational Excellence:
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of full-time work experience depending on level of responsibility; experience in manufacturing or supply chain and commercial, finance or other transactional functions an asset.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate well (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Has led and/or coached prior continuous improvement projects. Considered a strong coach on continuous improvement concepts
  • Experience in leading complex projects that require strong leadership, initiative, and change management would be an asset
  • Experience with change management, leader coaching, and culture-based improvement strongly preferred
  • Detailed, precise, and accurate
