Full Job Description
This is an opportunity to do relationship-driven, mission-focused work with a population with complex needs. You'll be supported by a strong multidisciplinary team--including nursing, case management, and clinical partners--allowing you to focus on what matters most: excellent patient care and great clinical leadership. If you're looking for autonomy, purpose, and the ability to make a lasting impact, we would love to meet you.

The Role

You will provide direct psychiatric care to adults living with serious mental illness, including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and other complex psychiatric conditions. You will work alongside psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs, an on-site PCP, on-site pharmacist, nurses, case managers, and peer support specialists in a collaborative, team-based model.

In your leadership capacity, you will serve as the psychiatric clinical lead for your site, mentoring psychiatrists and psychiatric APRNs, advancing clinical excellence, contributing to quality improvement, and partnering with site and network leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. You will receive mentorship and support from our Chief Medical Officer to help you grow and succeed in this role.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnostic clarification, and treatment planning
  • Ongoing psychopharmacologic management, including clozapine and long-acting injectable antipsychotics
  • Ability to integrate brief therapy during your visits as appropriate, to maximize clinical outcomes
  • Providing psychiatric care for members on Court Ordered Treatment (COT) as part of your overall caseload
  • Clinical oversight and mentorship of a dedicated team of psychiatric clinicians
  • Consultation with colleagues on complex or treatment-resistant cases
  • Coordination with primary care, emergency, pharmacy, and inpatient teams, especially during care transitions
  • Opportunity to mentor and teach psychiatry residents during clinical rotations at our site

Why This Role Matters

Behind every diagnosis is a human being with a story, goals, and the capacity for change. Our members often face some of life's greatest challenges: serious mental illness, medical complexity, housing instability, social isolation, and fragmented systems of care. They need more than a diagnosis and a prescription; they need a psychiatrist who sees the whole person and understands that meaningful relationships are at the center of healing.

In this role, your clinical judgment, consistency, and ability to build trust can change the trajectory of someone's life. As Chief Psychiatrist, your influence extends beyond the members you serve directly. Through your mentorship, collaboration, and clinical leadership, you help strengthen your team, elevate the standard of care, and expand the difference we can make together.

What We Offer
  • A leadership opportunity where your clinical voice helps shape programs, workflows, and the future of behavioral healthcare delivery
  • A mission-driven organization with deep roots in community behavioral health since 1998
  • A collaborative, team-based care model where psychiatrists are supported, not siloed
  • Outpatient only; no inpatient coverage
  • A call schedule that respects your time: on-call coverage limited to several weeks per year, covers critical lab results only (no patient-facing or hospital-facing calls), and call volume is low
  • Manageable caseloads designed to prevent burnout and allow you to practice the way you trained to

Who You Are
  • Board-certified or eligible in Adult Psychiatry
  • Experienced in working with SMI populations, ideally in community mental health or comparable settings
  • Psychologically-minded: skilled at both medication management and integrating brief therapy when appropriate, to care for the whole person
  • A natural mentor who is comfortable guiding other clinicians and elevating team practice
  • Comfortable navigating complexity and energized by the opportunity to make a difference in community mental health
  • A collaborative leader who values partnership

Education and Licensure Requirements
  • MD or DO with specialty training in Psychiatry
  • Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Arizona Board-certified (board-eligible considered for exceptional candidates)
  • Valid DEA certification
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in community psychiatry or comparable setting preferred
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or mentorship experience preferred
  • Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options (de-escalation/workplace safety) certifications, offered through Southwest Network
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and vehicle insurance
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with additional compensation reflecting leadership responsibilities
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Health Savings and Flex Spending account options
  • Paid sick, vacation, and holiday time (10 paid holidays per year)
  • CME reimbursement and paid CME time
  • Retirement plan (403b) with company match
  • Hinge Health (musculoskeletal care)
  • Virta (diabetes management program)
  • Disability insurance
  • Basic life insurance with the option to purchase supplemental insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Discounts

When you consider the total compensation package, the support, and the impact you'll have - both at the bedside and across the team - this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.
