Full Job Description
The Chief Procurement Officer provides executive leadership over all strategic and operational procurement activities across the organization. This executive role oversees company-wide sourcing, purchasing, category management, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, procurement compliance, and cost-optimization initiatives. The CPO will drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure that procurement strategies support organizational goals related to financial performance, operational efficiency, quality, risk management, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. Essential Position Functions:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, company-wide procurement strategy aligned with organizational goals and financial objectives.
  • Drive standardization of procurement practices across departments, business units and regional locations.
  • Collaborate with Commercial leaders to develop and sustain strategic vendor relationships, support inventory initiatives and specific opportunities
  • Establish departmental goals, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks to drive results.
  • Maintain robust vendor and product knowledge by continuously analyzing market trends, supply/demand forecasts, and industry trends, to inform sourcing decision.
  • Drive improvements in product offerings, pricing structures, and credit terms through proactive negotiations and partnerships.
  • Oversee purchasing execution to ensure availability of critical items while minimizing excess inventory. Drive excellence in order accuracy, compliance, and supplier engagement.
  • Ensure company-wide inventory levels are optimized to meet customer demand without tying up excess capital.
  • Direct strategies to identify and reduce obsolete, slow-moving, and nonperforming inventory while improving turns and days-on-hand.
  • Leverage analytics to monitor trends, identify risks, and proactively adjust buying practices.
  • Direct the development and continuous improvement of a statistical forecasting model and inventory planning processes.
  • Partner with sales, operations, finance, and IT leaders to align procurement with demand trends, customer expectations, and overall business requirements.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing procurement organization with clear performance objectives, development plans, and succession pipelines.
  • Ensure all procurement practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Establish and enforce governance standards that reduce supply chain risks and uphold ethical sourcing practices.

  • Professional certifications (CPSM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
