About the Job

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operating Officer (COO) maximizes the organization's effectiveness through operational oversight and strategic leadership. In addition to managing internal operations, the COO is an integrator of the organization's leadership, supporting objective planning, decision-making, and collaboration. The COO will provide direct supervision to the Controller and Accountant.

Kev Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct or coordinate financial or budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency
  • Analyze operations to evaluate the organization's or staff's performance in meeting objectives or determining potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
  • Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities to ensure continuing operations, maximize investment returns, or increase productivity.
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs.
  • Track high-priority initiatives for the CEO and leadership team, identifying and prioritizing key topics and suggestions for mitigation or resolution.
  • Build and reinforce scaling opportunities and best practices in team management, project prioritization, data interpretation, and reporting to support short and long-term success.
  • Negotiate or approve contracts or agreements with suppliers, distributors, federal or state agencies, or other organizational entities.
  • Coordinate the development or implementation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems, or other administrative control processes.
  • Review reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.
  • Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-term plans and budgets.
  • Drive the company's direction through the implementation of strategies.
  • Appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and report these results to the CEO.
  • Supports the CEO to ensure highly productive, day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • Oversee bank and accounting processes, invoicing, and money handling procedures.
  • Produce financial performance reports.


Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field (master's degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience as COO, Head of Operations, or similar.
  • Experience developing organizational strategies, processes, systems, and cultural norms that are effective, efficient, and reinforce a solid and inclusive team culture.
