Position Summary
The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic partner and operational extension of the Chief Executive Officer, helping translate organizational priorities into coordinated action and measurable results.
This role works across the organization to drive alignment, accountability, communication, and execution of the company's highest-priority initiatives. The Chief of Staff will partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to identify priorities, remove barriers, monitor progress, and ensure that critical decisions and initiatives move forward.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, strategic, and commercially minded operator who can move comfortably between executive-level strategy and day-to-day execution. This person must be able to influence without direct authority, navigate competing priorities, bring structure to ambiguity, and hold leaders accountable while maintaining strong relationships across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Partnership & Strategic Priorities
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner and thought partner to the CEO.
- Help the CEO establish, communicate, and maintain focus on the organization's highest-priority objectives.
- Translate executive direction into clear priorities, action plans, owners, and timelines.
- Prepare the CEO for key meetings, decisions, presentations, and organizational communications.
- Identify gaps, risks, and emerging issues requiring executive attention.
- Support the CEO in evaluating opportunities, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
- Help ensure executive decisions are communicated effectively and translated into action.
Organizational Execution & Accountability
- Establish systems and processes to track strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Maintain visibility into major initiatives, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Partner with executive leaders to identify barriers and drive resolution.
- Follow up on commitments and ensure accountability for agreed-upon actions.
- Escalate risks, delays, and competing priorities to the CEO when appropriate.
- Help establish a culture of ownership, follow-through, and measurable execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that span multiple departments.
Executive Team Effectiveness
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to improve communication, collaboration, and decision-making.
- Develop agendas, materials, and follow-up actions for executive leadership meetings.
- Ensure key decisions and action items are documented and communicated.
- Identify areas where executive teams or departments are misaligned and facilitate resolution.
- Support the development and implementation of leadership operating rhythms.
- Help ensure organizational priorities remain aligned across functions.
Business & Organizational Analysis
- Analyze business information, operational metrics, financial information, and organizational trends to support executive decision-making.
- Develop executive-level reports, dashboards, presentations, and briefing materials.
- Conduct research and analysis on strategic opportunities and organizational challenges.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that may impact organizational performance.
- Partner with leaders to establish appropriate metrics and measures of success.
Strategic Project Leadership
- Lead or coordinate high-priority, cross-functional projects on behalf of the CEO.
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and accountability structures.
- Coordinate stakeholders and ensure projects remain aligned with organizational objectives.
- Remove barriers and facilitate decisions necessary to maintain momentum.
- Provide regular progress updates and recommendations to the CEO.
- Step into emerging priorities or special projects as organizational needs evolve.
Communication & Organizational Alignment
- Help ensure executive priorities are clearly communicated throughout the organization.
- Develop executive communications, presentations, talking points, and organizational updates.
- Partner with HR, Operations, Marketing, and other functions on organization-wide communications when appropriate.
- Help connect leadership decisions to broader organizational goals and employee impact.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive business and personnel information.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in operations, strategy, business leadership, consulting, healthcare, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with senior executives or executive leadership teams.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority.
- High level of discretion, judgment, and confidentiality.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, healthcare staffing, professional services, or a similarly complex organization.
- Experience working in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience developing executive dashboards, operating rhythms, or strategic planning processes.
- Experience managing cross-functional organizational initiatives.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Work Environment
Physical demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors and staff. Overnight travel may be required from time to time.
Mental demands:
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and must also multi-task and interact with a wide variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
